High quality, ceramic mug featuring kakabeak flowers on an antique map of the Pacific ocean.
The New Zealand kakabeak (Clianthus maximusa), also known as parrot's beak, parrot's bill and lobster claw, has beautiful red flowers. It's a critically endangered plant and only about 150 speciemens are known in the wild (we know the secret location of one, just down the road!). On Captain Cook's first voyage to New Zealand in 1769, the artist Joseph Banks illustrated kakabeak flowers.
