Inspired by some of the oldest imagery of a morepork owl and lush New Zealand forests. The owl is named after its cry "more-pork". or “ruru” to Maoris. In Māori tradition the morepork was a watchful guardian from the spirit world. Their huge eyes may have inspired Māori wood carvings such as those at the entrance to meeting houses.
